Walt Whitney has performed in concert halls, festivals and honky tonks. He has taken his music to the streets of New Orleans, the mountains of North Carolina, the Big Apple, Philly and the Jersey Shore.
Walt has been playing blues, R&B and his own funky junk for years. Among his major influences he cites Robert Johnson, Louis Armstrong, James Brown, RL Burnside, Bobby Darin, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Otis Redding, Johnny Rivers and James Carr.
His music can be soulful and acoustic, or Rocking Bluesy Junk that has the whole joint jumping. Walt has opened for national acts such as: Southside Johnny (& the Asbury Jukes), Johnny Winter III, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Toy Caldwell (The Marshall Tucker Band), Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna), John Cipollina (Quicksilver Messenger Service), David Johansen (The New York Dolls, Buster Poindexter), Cornell Dupree, Gordon Edwards (in Rainbow with Cornell Dupree) and George Porter, Jr. (The Meters). Whether fronting his own band, or alone with a guitar, it's all home to him.
But for him, it’s just strumming a guitar and having someone to listen; that's all that really matters.

Here's a new video we shot this weekend in New Jersey at an old bowling alley. An original song, "Hurry Home".
Walt and Cousin Paul found an abandoned church meeting hall in South Carolina that had the exact look and feel of this original song. No special effects, no overdubbing, shot in one take in B/W, this is the real deal kids. One man, one guitar and one song to sing.
